Product Review Friday: Clutter Control With DYMO LabelWriter

Friday, October 29th, 2010 by admin

I am excited to tell you about the DYMO Label Writer for Product Review Friday. It is the type of product that looks good on a desk in the office and is compact so it is convenient to use but does not get in the way. It actually helps to control clutter.

8 reasons I really like this machine and recommend it are:

  • It saves money because it does not use ink or toner. I just hate running out of ink don’t you? With this printer that will never be a problem.
  • The instruction booklet that came with it was actually written so I could understand it. That may sound funny but so many instruction books make me want to tear my hair out they are so poorly written.
  • It can be installed as an Add-in for QuickBooks. (This is in the US only).
  • I have my favorite addresses in my address book and these contacts automatically insert on my label.
  • It prints postage using DYMO Stamps software. This one of the features I like best.
  • It saves me time as I use two kinds of shipping labels and I don’t have to switch between the two. The DYMO 450 Twin Turbo has two sizes ready when I need them.
  • The large label format makes it ultra easy to label large items in the office. Office supplies such as printers, and computers.
  • Many people don’t like to wear name tags, but with this little machine you can have name tags ready prior to a meeting but anyone who comes that wasn’t expected—you can print them out a name tag as the last moment.

This is a great little machine to clear clutter, same money and save time. For a business office or home office I highly recommend the DYMO LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo. I was thrilled when I was asked to try the DYMO label writer. (My compensation for getting to use and blog on this fabulous machine is that I get to keep it).

Trick or Treat Safety For Pets

Thursday, October 28th, 2010 by admin

I was working with a client clearing clutter this week and she said her tiny dog (I don’t know what kind, I just know she is tiny) slipped out the door in January and was gone for a week. Can you imagine the concern and despair of the dog’s human? She was found miles away and because she had a tag her owner thankfully got her back.

Here are some safety tips for pets I found on www.theanimalrescuesite.com Take a look at this site, you can read rescue stories and click to provide food for shelter animals for free. I checked Snoops and it is true they donate food free because of people like us clicking.

Halloween is fast-approaching and this time of year is especially exciting for kids and adults alike, but even your pets may want to get in on the action. The North Shore Animal League America has come up with a few tips to keep your four-legged friend safe on Halloween night as children come knocking on your door.

Always make sure your pet has some sort of identification on them. Since the door will be opening and closing all evening as you pass out candy, your furry friend may run outside when they get the chance.

Another tip is to keep candy and decorations out of the reach of your pet. Many animals can get very sick if they ingest chocolate or other sweet treats, so it is best to keep those items on a high table.

Not all pets like being dressed up, so one should know whether their furry friend enjoys being in costume. If you do dress them up, make sure it is something that does not restrict their mobility or vision.

Also, with all of the excitement going on, it is best not to take your pet trick-or-treating. They may become overwhelmed and excited and could possibly attack someone if they get frightened.

Our kitties always hide on Halloween–how about your pets?

When Is The Best Time To Clear Clutter?

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 by admin

When is the best time of day to take your vehicle to a car wash? First thing in the morning. The machinery is cleaner then, and the employees have more energy to dry and detail your vehicle.

I was reading the newsletter Cycles and found a useful website called buyketchupinmay. This site is advertizing his book but there is also some fun and informative information right on the site such as:

May I add my two cents worth and ask when is the best time to clear clutter? I recommend in the morning. I have organized with hundreds of women and the majority have more energy in the morning. For some people it is a matter of just getting it done. Once the momentum is there it is easier to keep on going.

However if you aren’t a morning person then this is not the best time to clear clutter—you have to know your own body.

What is your favorite time of day to clear clutter? Mine is anytime of day except if it is a big project I prefer starting in the morning.

One Of A Kind Show ‘N Share Tuesday To Clearing Clutter

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010 by admin

Show ‘N Share Tuesday is a bit different but I can still tie it in to clearing clutter.—You wouldn’t expect any thing less would you? :)

I have been working on this table runner for awhile and my goal was to get it done before Halloween. There are a lot of little stitches that are called the buttonhole stitch. As I was working on it I thought, “I’m not getting anywhere”. That was silly because of course I was making progress and here is the photo to prove it—it is all done and sits on my fireplace hearth.

Isn’t that just how we are sometimes when it comes to clearing clutter? We start working on it and we think we just aren’t getting anywhere yet by working a little at a time and keeping at it the project will get done.

What is your next project you’re going to work on to clear clutter?

A Penny? Nickel? Clutter Control To The Rescue?

Monday, October 25th, 2010 by admin

Identity Theft can be avoided with Clutter Control. My brother called me for my birthday last week and was telling me he was the victim of identify fraud and he has no idea how they got his banking information. Here is some great information from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.

“If you see a small, curious amount on your credit card you can’t identify, call your card issuer right away. There’s a strong likelihood it’s a “test” by a credit thief to learn if your card is good. If the micro charge goes through uncaught, it could be the prelude to a spending binge on your card or the theft of your financial identity”.

Identify theft makes me so mad. Do everything you can to prevent fraud! If you have a handle on clutter control it will easier for you to know what is going on and hopefully easier to prevent it.

Clutter Control Begins with Repurposing

Friday, October 22nd, 2010 by admin

Product review Friday for clutter control.

There are actually two products in this photo. See the pink and white container? This is traditionally used for baby bottle nipples and sippy cup lids. If you have lids or other little things that are light weight and get melted in the dishwasher this is a product that will hold those little things so you won’t be losing them to the heat coil.

The other product has been re-purposed also—the cookie cooling racks. Do you have lightweight glasses or bowls that flip all over in the dishwasher? Place a cooling rack on top of them and it will hold them in place while washing.

What do you use in your home you can re purpose for clutter control in your kitchen or other places in your home?

4 Simple Tips To Get Rid Of Clutter

Thursday, October 21st, 2010 by admin

Have you ever wondered how much a billion is?  When I was younger I thought a million dollars was a lot (I still do) but I hear billion a lot more than I used to. Here’s a mind picture:

A million seconds = just under 12 days.

A billion seconds = about 32 years.

A trillion seconds = 32,000 years.

You’ve heard me talking about using pockets of times to get rid of clutter when we don’t have much time to get anything done.

This could mean we can:

  • Put the newspapers/magazines in the recycle bin.
  • Straighten the family room before we go to bed so we get up to an organized room instead of a mess which seems to grow and have babies.
  • Read that one article in the magazine we have wanted to read and then it can be recycled.
  • Renew that overdue library book online.

Get rid of clutter using just a few seconds at a time—they do add up.

Laugh Today, Clear Clutter Tomorrow

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 by admin

If this doesn’t make you laugh what will? One of my faithful blog readers sent this to me on clutter control and I just can’t stop chuckling over it.

This won’t help with clutter control but it may help us live healthier because “laughter is the best medicine”.

Don’t ya think?

Happy Birthday Marilyn

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 by admin

This is Cindy Marilyn’s daughter. I’m sneeking onto her blog today to wish Marilyn a Very Very Happy Belated Birthday. I’m sorry I forgot to blog on Sat!

Marilyn loves birthdays and always made sure each of her daughters had very special birthdays. I have so many wonderful memories because of my mom. One birthday that stands out is the time  mom made my cake a doll and each of my friends each had doll cakes made from cupcakes. So much thought and effort. THANK YOU Mom.

Happy Birthday to an amazing woman!

Show ‘N Share Tuesday Reveals Clearing Clutter Surprise

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 by admin

For Show ‘N Share Tuesday I am showing two unique birthday gifts I received Saturday. By the way I had the best birthday ever. I think I have said that for the last 15 years. I love birthdays—do you?

Look at the photo that is a metal tin. This is a “grow your own grass” for cats. I understand it is good for cats to have grass they can eat. By the time the grass has grown hopefully there will be snow on the ground and this will be ready for the cat to eat.

This pot reminds me of clearing clutter. The grass didn’t plant itself; I had to do it if I wanted it to grow. This is how it is with clearing clutter from our cupboards, shelves, under the bed or wherever. Clutter doesn’t clear itself; we are the ones who have to do it if we want to get rid of clutter.

The other photo is a picture of a doily. Can you see the hidden surprise? Hint: it is an animal.

Instead of clearing clutter do you hide clutter? You hear the knock at the door and you start throwing stuff in the closet? We all want our homes to look neat and tidy when company comes. If you do this it may be time to assign homes for everything and put them away after using them. Or at least get back to clearing clutter out of the closet when company leaves.

Do you toss things in the closet when you are expecting company or do you put things where they belong?
