Fall Is The Perfect Time For Clearing Clutter

Walking down the street and hearing the crunch of leaves under my feet on a cool beautiful fall day is one of my favorite things to do. Sometimes I jump from leaf to leaf to hear them crunch. When clearing clutter it isn’t such a great idea to jump from project to project without first finishing the project we started. If we start clearing clutter and get distracted and go off to do something else this can actually create more clutter.

Fall is a great time for clearing clutter but it is also a time to check out how safe our home is.

If you don’t have fire escape plans have a family night and make a plan. Let one of the kids draw a map and post it inside the kids’ closet door so they can memorize what their route would be in case of fire. Color coding the route would be helpful. Practice the route once a month until everyone has it down pat and then review it every 4 months after that.

Do you have a fire escape route at your home? Even if there aren’t any children in your home it is a good idea to have a plan.
