What a mess!  Like I say, things look worse before they look better. My spatula container needed some serious clutter control.  When I tried to remove a spatula from the crock I had to hold down other ones that wanted to come out at the same time.  (That is so annoying). I realized I had allowed too many to live here at the same time.

It happened so subtlety I didn’t even realize it was getting clutter-e. (Is that a word)?

I removed’em all and put the holiday ones in a different place and the not so cute ones. Now it is so much easier to find the one I want when I want it. I just love clutter control.

Isn’t my Darth Vader the best? I purchased him at William& Sonoma.

Happy And Safe Memorial Day

Monday, May 30th, 2011 by admin

Memorial Day was formally known as Decoration Day and commemorates all men and women who have died in military service for the United States.

THANK YOU to all service women and men who have laid down their lives fighting for my freedom and are still serving our great country.

When I was a teenager I remember on Memorial Day going from cemetery to cemetery placing flowers on my grandparents and aunts and uncles graves. The flowers were usually peonies and snowballs from my mother’s yard.

How different it is now, my children are living all over the U.S. and one is in the Republic of Georgia during this holiday. Even though our family isn’t visiting all the graves this year each person is in our thoughts.  We have happy and some sad memories of them and we honor them on this weekend.

May you and your family be safe, full of joy and remember to fly the flag this weekend.

Dymo LabelWriter 450 Organizing Product Duo Rocks!

Friday, May 27th, 2011 by admin

I was asked to review this product and let me tell you I think it is a great product for a small business or for a home business. Rather than telling you how to use the labels or the postage this machine prints I am telling you about this organizing product Dymo Label/Writer 450:

  • * Set up instructions were easy to understand.
  • * It prints many types of labels: Shipping labels, Address labels, File folders, Badges/Visitor labels,  Multipurpose, and Specialty/Retail; all in different sizes and fonts.
  • * It has an address book which means it remembers names and addresses so you don’t have to retype them the next time you need a label. This alone is a time saver.
  • * Dymo customer service is excellent. A (live) person answered the phone that spoke and understood English.
  • * Dymo prints Express, Priority and First Class Postage. All you need is Dymo stamps software, the label/writer printer and Dymo stamp labels.
  • * It doesn’t use ink or toner. It uses heat from the thermal point head to print on specially treated labels.

I recommend this organizing product as it is easy to use, it is stylish so it can stay on my desk top (looks is important), and it prints both postage and labels. (That’s why they named it Duo).

I am being compensated for reviewing this organizing product but I never praise a product that I don’t recommend after I have used it. I always tell it how I see it.

For a chance to win this Dymo 450 email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Subject line: Dymo OR go to click here facebook page and post a tip on their wall. Winner will be chosen randomly. Good luck!

What’s On Your Clutter Control List?

Thursday, May 26th, 2011 by admin

Are you a list maker? I am not sure when I started making lists but it is a thing I really like to do and actually it has become a necessity to do to help with clutter control, that is if I don’t want to forget things I need to do and not over book.

To me it is awful to forget things I want to do and commit to do. Once I was asked (this is really embarrassing) to judge a community quilt show on July 4th   as part of the town celebration. I was excited I was asked and felt it quite an honor. I told all my family I would be going early in the morning and guess what—that’s right, I forgot.  I called an apologized as soon as I realized I had missed it but I have never been asked back.

l ists that make life easy:

1. Shopping List

2. Chore List

3. Contact List

4. Travel List

5. Emergency List

Have you ever forgotten something very important that you would have remembered if you had had a list—and then checked it? I wonder if  we should have a clutter control list. HUMMMM

Join in the fun and leave a comment, that is the best part.

Clearing Clutter At Full Throttle?

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011 by admin

He who undertakes too much seldom succeeds.  –Dutch Proverb

Does this hit home? When you are clearing clutter do you take on too much at a time? If so do you get discouraged? Or do you just say, oh, well and keep on keeping on?

This really hit home with me—I always over estimate how much time it will take me to do something. Because I know this about me I plan about twice as much time when clearing clutter as I think it will take and then I am pleasantly surprised when it doesn’t take that long.

How about you?

Show ‘N Share Clutter Clearing Tuesday

I have this tiny pantry—I use that word freely as it is more like a pantry wanna-be. But still it is what it is. (Others in my home call it a mere closet wanna-be).

I wanted to do some clutter clearing. (Really, I wanted to). But I didn’t want to do anything that took much time as I only had 15 minutes so I revisited my pantry wanna-be.

How do you think I did? There wasn’t a lot of clutter clearing that needed to be done but I honestly was surprised how cans had migrated to places they didn’t belong.

The bonus of this was I went through all the cans and checked for expiration dates and looked for items we didn’t use and I donated them to our local food bank.

I guess one advantage of a small space is that it can’t get too much clutter.

Glittering Clutter Clearing Monday Focus

Monday, May 23rd, 2011 by admin

I am back from a fabulicious weekend. We went to my friend’s cabin and sewed up a storm. Literally! It rained all day Friday which meant the roads were too muddy and with the wind it was too cold to walk.  But no prob-blem-o—we just kept on sewing.

I am back and thinking of Clearing Clutter Focus Monday:

How’s about window sills? Do you need to do clutter clearing in your window sills? When I walk by certain houses I see a lot of shampoos and stuff in the windows.

I was thinking about this because one of my windows has a glass made of pottery that holds some of my quilting tools and another holds pencils. I am not sure I feel I need to do clutter clearing with these two things. I’ll think about it and look again from the street since this is my focus today.

How are your sills?  Do they need clutter clearing?

Free BH&G Giveaway On Clutter Control Product Review Friday

Clutter Control Product Review Friday:

Better Homes and Gardens  invited me to participate in a Sneak Peek of the Re-done and Improved Better Homes and Gardens on-line magazine.

They are launching the new, improved magazine today!   The magazine is under $6.00 a year and the photos and the topics are helpful and well worth a look.

My favorite thing they showed us (2 actually) are the larger photos—beautiful. And in the foods section there is a place to click on recipe and then type in ingredients and it comes up with recipes for those ingredients. It helps take the drudgery out of “what’s for dinner”?

There is a section for organizing that will certainly help us all with clutter control. And there’s a craft section as well.

They have generously given me 5 subscriptions to give away to my blog readers. Here is how to enter for a year subscription for free:

Leave a comment on this blog. For two chances go to my Facebook page and leave a comment. (If you haven’t Liked me before do it on that page so you can leave a comment there as well).

The Free Giveaway ends May 25 at 3:00 p.m. MST.

Good Luck to everyone!

Pie Chart Explains Clearing Clutter

Thursday, May 19th, 2011 by admin

Someone sent this to me and I had a good laugh and thought,  “Isn’t this the truth?” Is this what your life looks like?

It doesn’t matter how much clutter clearing you have done there are days like this. You can have your keys on the hook or in the basket and at the last minute they just up and walk off.  Or how about that piece of paper you just had in your hand, where did it go?

What kinds of things walk off on their own at your home? Clearing clutter does take a sustained and constant effort (sorry to hafta tell ya). But the rewards are worth it—don’tchathink?
