Cut Clutter With The Password Keeper

Product Review:

Computer hacking has been raised to an art form—therefore you don’t want to store your passwords in your computer. I have an exciting product to review today that is a password keeper so you won’t ever have to worry about your passwords being compromised ever again.

The author (and genius I have to say) of the book “The 5th Dimension Password Keeper” wrote me and asked if I would review this book. He sent it to me and the rest is history as they say. I recommend this book to EVERYONE who has passwords.

It states on the cover “it is the most secure password organizer in the world”. Some of the highlights:

  • Stores over 100 complex passwords with ease. (I have been using this book for the past three weeks and have secured all of my 60 plus passwords).
  • Passwords are safe even if the book is lost or stolen.
  • You will never have to keep your passwords in your computer again.
  • You will never use easy to crack passwords again—and what I like is not having to figure out secure passwords.

It only costs $9.95 and can be purchased at Barnes and Nobel or on Amazon.

I highly recommend this book! It is simple to use and the information is well written and invaluable. Thank you Michael E. Pipkins for writing this book and for introducing me to it.

Say “Yes” To Clutter Control

Thursday, June 28th, 2012 by admin

When my daughter Julie was only two weeks old I applied for her social security card. She has had to put up with a big problem with her card for Years as they put the wrong birth date on it and I didn’t catch it. She has had no end of problems with this. She may be able to correct her Social Security card but it is a long drawn out process that she just hasn’t taken the time to do. (I don’t blame her)

Do you have a problem spot when it comes to clutter? Is it something you did years ago or even more recent and it hasn’t been corrected? Could it be you resist getting rid of clutter?

This is a True Story in my life: I just recently realized a trouble spot for me is my ironing board. I think it is because it is a flat surface and it is always set up in my sewing room. It is so easy (as it is for many with any flat surface) to just place things on it instead of taking a few extra seconds and putting things where they belong. Once I started doing this I just kept on doing it.

I am committing right now, this very minute to change my ways. I am going to stop putting things there. I’ll report back in a couple of weeks and let you know how my clutter control on the ironing board is doing. (But first I have to go and get rid of the clutter that has accumulated there since this photo was taken).

Get Ready To Do Some Clutter Control

“Real difficulties can be overcome; it is only the imaginary ones that are unconquerable”

—Theodore N. Vail (He was a U.S. telephone industrialist)

Wow! If we believed and acted on this when it comes to clutter control we would have it made don’t you think?

Instead of telling ourselves all sorts of stories of why we can’t get clutter under control. Things like:

  • But it was a gift and I can’t part with it (How long have you had it? Do you love it? Does it light you up?)
  • My husband or children will just mess it up again so why try?
  • I don’t have a home for everything

These may be all legitimate reasons for not getting clutter under control but are any of them as important as getting rid of the clutter to bring peace, harmony and more time in our lives? We have enough clutter in our lives without imagining it is unconquerable to get rid of it—-don’tchathink?

Isn’t It Time To Get Rid Of Clutter?

Happy, Happy Birthday to my daughter Julie!!!

It always amazes me how easy it is to get rid of clutter. I had on my master list to straighten the back storage room and I kept moving it to the bottom of the list. When I got to it, it wasn’t bad at all. In fact all I had to do to get rid of clutter in this room was to rearrange these shelves; the rest of the room was fine.  That was a happy surprise.

As you can see from the photos I got rid of quite a few things—what I actually did was put them in better places and I got rid of a few things we hadn’t used in over a year. I was also able to combine some things that needed to be together.

Who said getting rid of clutter is hard? It isn’t with a goal in mind, a few minutes and a strategic plan. Such as putting likes together, get rid of things that aren’t used and never will be used, and label. Put things in boxes or plastic containers that can be labeled and stacked—rather than keeping things in plastic bags that don’t stack.

What is on your master list to get rid of clutter that you’re putting off?

3 Tips For Spruced Up Clutter Control

Monday Clutter Control Focus:

As a kid I liked driving through tunnels. My mom would honk her horn and turn on the car lights. I thought it was fun for some reason to go from bright sunlight into a dark tunnel. This tunnel is the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

There is a sign at the beginning of the tunnel saying to turn on your lights and another one at the end reminding drivers to turn off their lights.

Do you feel you are in a dark tunnel when it comes to clutter control? Maybe it is because you don’t know where to start or what gets done gets undone.

Just like driving through a tunnel it doesn’t last forever.

  • Turn on your lights—keep only things that make you happy, that light you up and have meaning to you in your life.
  • Just pick a place to get rid of clutter—chose a space that is driving you nuts and do it.
  • When you have a plan and a place for everything and your clutter control efforts seem to get undone, get right back up and work your plan and put things back in their homes before they can attract more and more clutter.

Sounds simple? I KNOW if you feel like you are in a dark tunnel there IS light at the end as you keep on keeping on. Only at the end DO keep your lights on. Clutter control will happen and what a great feeling there waiting for you at the end of the ‘tunnel’.

Great-Looking But Not Clutter Free

Have you ever noticed there is beauty all around? Or do you see clutter all around? These photos were taken back in Virginia. The wild flowers were such a pleasant surprise. We had just finished grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s (coming to Utah by the way—Yeah). As we were getting on the freeway we saw this beautiful field of flowers. (We went back later to get this photo). Now we could have said, “The houses are ruining the shot or there are sure a lot of weeds.” If we had done this we would have missed this lovely experience of walking among these beautiful flowers in the middle of a busy city.

The second photo I took as we were crossing a bridge on a morning bike ride. The river and the trees and bushes were beautiful. I didn’t even see the electric lines until I took the photo. They do detract from the beauty but I was able to look right past them.

In your home do you focus on getting rid of clutter without enjoying other things about your home? If the clutter is holding you back from having a less stressful and happy life then it is time to do something about it—take the bull by the horns so to speak and create beauty in one little part of your home today by getting rid of clutter (letting go of) .

For me I wanted to create some beauty so to speak in my garage. It was organized so I thought it would take about 15 minutes to do what I wanted to do. But then I got really creative and it took me an hour to create my beauty in this space.  It is such a great feeling to have it organized.

Do you look for the beauty all around or do you look for the clutter? (Frankly I do both)

“Those who are not looking for happiness are the most likely to find it, because those who are searching forget that the surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others.”

—Martin Luther King Jr.

Because I was back in Atlanta  two months ago where we visited Dr King’s birth place I thought this was a fitting thought and oh so true.

Leave a comment on this blog on my web site before the 27th of June and you will be put in a drawing for—what else? A prize. Oops, I mean you won’t be put in anything but your name will be.

The comment needs to be how this thought ties in with clutter control or getting rid of clutter or anything at all to do with clutter.  Thanks for participating.

3 Perfect Tips To Get Rid Of Clutter

Someone left a comment on my blog a few weeks ago saying she couldn’t see much of a change in the before and after photos. That just goes to show we don’t always have to have a major make-over when we get rid of clutter.

In this cupboard it was easy to get rid of clutter because mostly it was:

  • Moving things around so likes were together.
  • Checking expiration dates on cans and smelling the spices and checking the color to make sure they were still good.
  • Moving things that are used most often to more convenient places. (Like the can next to the yellow container that is used a couple of times a day).

It inspires me to see what little changes are needed to make our lives easier—how about you? What was the last thing you did to get rid of clutter?

To Die For Quilt and De-Clutter Ideas

Monday, June 18th, 2012 by admin

Monday Focus:

I told you a week or so ago I would share my trip to D.C. with you. Actually we never left Virginia even though we were only 10 minutes away from D.C.. There are just so many places to go and things to do. First of all I gave my daughter this fun wall quilt. She loves the beach and when I saw it made up I just knew she had to have it. Of course she was delighted and hung it up immediately.

What does this have to do with focusing on one thing this week? Well…first of all we have to have something in mind we want to de-clutter in our home. That sounds like a no brainer but you would be surprised (or not) how hard it can be to focus on what needs to be de-cluttered. It actually took me a year to get the pattern for this quilt. My friend Kathy Milligan designed and made the patterns.

Then I had to buy fabric for it, and then the quilting process could begin. That is how it is with de-cluttering.

  • Decide on what you want to de-clutter. Don’t give up when it takes time to “get it together”.
  • Get in the mindset that you are going to de-clutter, share with your family and get them on board.

This week: come up with a vision of ONE area in your home you are going to work on de-cluttering. Remember, you don’t have to do it all at once or maybe not even do anything but plan and prepare this week.

How does this sound to you?

Smashing Organizing Product Rocks

For Kitchen Organization Review:

Looks are deceiving sometimes. When I visited my daughter in Virginia a couple of weeks ago she had this measuring spoon on her fridge. I was drawn to it (could it have been because it is magnetic?)  Yes my friends, it is a magnetic tablespoon/teaspoon.

She bought it at an art museum in Denver of all places but I found it on line. Check out this fun organizing product that can help clear clutter.

Her kitchen is very small and she has to keep her measuring cups and spoons in a basket in the cupboard. With this $3.00 organizing product it is sooo very convenient to just turn around, take it off the fridge, use it and replace it.

I used it several times and it made a believer out of me. Some of the simplest things can help us get rid of clutter! These spoons contain a ½-measure fill line and magnets within the handle make it easy to attach to a fridge or any metal surface. They are always in reach and can be used as memo holders. It is dishwasher safe.

With all the color choices you can chose one in your favorite color. What a great gadget to help get rid of clutter.
