Look at this wonderful after photo—it makes me want to go and make some cookies or a cake because everything is so organized now and it is easy to find what I need.

It was so much fun clutter clearing in this drawer. All it took was:

  • Putting likes together
  • Containing everything (I am not sure about that rogue flower)
  • Removing things that didn’t belong

Clutter clearing is a cinch with a plan in mind. My plan was to make it easy to find things and utilizing the 3 tips above.

Organizing Product Keeps Plants Fresh And Alive

Organizing Product Review for Plants:

Something you might not think about when you go on vacation, but plants need to be organized too if you want to come home to living plants. Do you gather them all together and put them in the bathtub with water in the tub? Do you get a neighbor to water them? Do you use those little beads that absorb water? My daughter did and the plant actually died later. We think it is because it got too much water.

Here is an organizing product I had never seen before. It is called the vacation anti drought plant treatment from whatever.com.

They say plants survive for Two Weeks Without Water. It is an all-natural treatment that places your plants in a state of drought resistance for up to two weeks. It can be used on indoor and outdoor plants. They also say it is safe for people and pets. An 8-oz bottle makes up to three gallons of solution. Right now it is on sale for just under $10.00.

Have you ever used a product like this to insure your plants are still alive when you get home from vacation?

5 Effective Tips For Beginning School

Thursday, July 26th, 2012 by admin

Can you believe it is less than a month before the kiddies go back to school? I did a blog a month ago on what to do before school starts and said I would revisit this in a month with more ideas so here goes.

One month before school starts:

1. Check to see that your home computer is equipped for studying. Things such as internet access, a printer and word processing.

2. Visit your school’s website. Check out the schedules, supply lists, and other information to help get ready for the first day. Make a folder and copy information you will be referring back to. Only print what you actually need.

3. Shop for school clothes—check first to see if they have clothes from last year they can still wear.

4. Find out when to sign up for sport or other extracurricular activities.

5. Figure out transportation arrangements.

The beginning of school is so much easier and less stressful with pre-planning.

Out Of Control? 3 Tips To Swing Into Clutter Control

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012 by admin

“A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave 5 minutes longer.”

—-Ralph Waldo Emerson

I just watched the video clip of the bus driver who had just gotten off work when he heard shouting at an apartment building and went to take a look. A little autistic girl was dancing on the window air conditioner three stories up outside her apartment. This brave man positioned himself under the window in case she fell which she did and he caught her. To me he was a hero.

When you become discouraged with teaching your children or others in your home to declutter just keep at it a little longer—that could be the time they “get it” and start helping with clutter control. It isn’t a magic pill we can give someone to teach them clutter control.

  • We do it by example
  • We set up systems  (the way to do something) they can actually be successful at doing
  • We keep doing it “5 minutes longer”

What have you done to make clutter control a success in your home?

1 Tip To Live A Clutter Free Life

Clutter Free Show ‘N Share:

We are so lucky to have farmer’s markets in the summer. Do you have them where you live? This was a small one in Park City, Utah. I love the organization of the beautiful fruit. (I would notice the organization wouldn’t I?) Note there is no clutter around this produce, because it is so beautifully displayed we were drawn to this vendor.

Isn’t that how it is in your home? When things are organized and clutter free you are drawn to that area in your home? I know every single room can be clutter free. It takes clutter clearing on a daily basis (putting things away after they have been used) and it is worth it for a clutter free home and life.

Do you have a tip for living a clutter free life?

Essential Tips To Get Organized

Monday, July 23rd, 2012 by admin

Monday Getting Organized Focus:

When I am out and about I often hear mothers tell their children to focus on what they are doing. In the grocery store it is to focus on not bumping into others carts, in the library it is to use their indoor voices when talking.

Focusing helps us in getting organized. What are your goals to be organized? Have you thought about that lately? This week review your goals, or set some new ones. (Not more than 3). Write your goals down in an organizing journal. For those who organize with me, pull out the one I gave you at our first ‘visit’.

Getting organized starts with us focusing on what we want to organize rather than just saying “I need to get organized”.

DeClutter Your Home Using Innovative Clips

Organizing Product Review:

I love doing reviews of products I have used but is just so happens that it is not always possible as I haven’t tried a new product. I looked at whateverworks.com and found some organizing products I like. Take a look at this one. Not only is it a safety feature to prevent tripping but it is also attractive—well not the clips but what it does. They look like they are a good way to declutter your home also.

This is a set of 24 cord organization wall clips that secures dangling cords and cables. You can secure those messy cords neatly and safely against the wall or baseboard with these adhesive clips. Peel off the backing and press into place.

They are out of stock until July 30. They are on sale at 44% off (Do you ever wonder how companies come up with uneven percentages—I do). Item number #K5041 now only $4.99.  Maybe your local hardware store carries them too.

4 Smart Tips For Clearing Clutter

I really like the Extra Dessert Delights Sugarfree Gum. I found this gum several months ago and I like it so much I buy it in packs of three. I like the mint chocolate chip the best or is it that I like the apple pie flavor the best. Then I am not sure maybe one of the other flavors is my favorite. On a package I bought today there was an ad for a chance to win prizes. I actually jumped on line to enter.

To my disappointment it was over—I missed it. That is much like my blog yesterday—I missed it. That is to say, I didn’t get one posted. Should I give you my reason(s)?  Naugh—I will just get on with writing today and tomorrow and days after those.

This is how it is with clearing clutter. If we miss doing it one day all is not lost (except for maybe that thing we have been looking for that is hidden under all the clutter). There is another day—unlike my chance to win a prize. Which actually I don’t think I would have won anyway.

I know you have come here for some tips on clearing clutter so here they are:

  • Keep up with clearing clutter, it is the easiest way.
  • After company leaves get out the box or go to the closet where you chucked all the clutter when you heard that knock on the door and put those things where they belong.
  • Assign EVERYTHING in your home—a home.
  • Do not become discouraged, keep on keeping on and you will win the “battle” of clearing clutter.

By the way—do you think clearing clutter is a battle? Or does it just depend?

Life Happens–Getting Rid Of Clutter Goes On Hold

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012 by admin

Show ‘N Share Tuesday:

Life happens and that is why I say we can’t STAY organized but we can KEEP organized. It doesn’t matter how organized you are there are times when getting rid of clutter isn’t at the top of your to do list.

A few reasons getting rid of clutter gets put on the back burner:

  • Surgery
  • Vacations
  • Guests
  • The heat
  • Activities

This is a photo of my office before and after I had to move many things from my sewing room into my office because I turned the sewing room into a guest room. There was no way I could get rid of clutter until my guest left. (boo-hoo) The after photo shows how my office looked 32 minutes after she went to the airport. There is more to do but for today this is a good start.

Getting rid of clutter is easy when life happens as we can just get back to working on our goals and get back in our clutter free comfort zone.

Happy Birthday Cindy to my daughter and fabulous assistant. She received the funniest birthday card from her sister that I just have to share with you………….  “If I ruled the world, I’d make a rule that said everyone had to give you a birthday present. Then I’d take all your presents and leave you for dead”.  Cindy said that is the best birthday card she has ever gotten and she was laughing her head off.
