Product Review Puts Fun First

Product Review:

Hey, Hey, Hey, let’s have some fun today.  Are these drinking glasses fun or what?

Wouldn’t kids find these a scream? These “eyeglasses serve as a fully functioning drinking straw. Wear them on your head and take a sip.  They are washable in warm water. BPA free for ages 3 and up. Find them at The Container Store.

My granddaughter will soon be 5 and she wears glasses. I think she would have fun with these. Out of 11 reviews they got 4 stars out of 5.  I still think these are just so much fun.

Did you know today is International Women’s Day?

Clearing Clutter Is A Snap With Colorful Hampers

Friday, August 17th, 2012 by admin

I was searching for products and again I turned to The Container Store.com This is the time of year students are going back to school to live in dorms or in apartments. One thing they need is some place to put their dirty clothes. Check out these options whether you have a student or just want to see what’s out there for the laundry.

Maybe it is time for you to do some clutter clearing in the utility room and you need a new hamper? Do you keep hampers for dirty clothes in every bedroom or just in the laundry room or do you have a drop (or laundry chute) that everyone uses?

5 Effective Tips For Beginning School

Thursday, July 26th, 2012 by admin

Can you believe it is less than a month before the kiddies go back to school? I did a blog a month ago on what to do before school starts and said I would revisit this in a month with more ideas so here goes.

One month before school starts:

1. Check to see that your home computer is equipped for studying. Things such as internet access, a printer and word processing.

2. Visit your school’s website. Check out the schedules, supply lists, and other information to help get ready for the first day. Make a folder and copy information you will be referring back to. Only print what you actually need.

3. Shop for school clothes—check first to see if they have clothes from last year they can still wear.

4. Find out when to sign up for sport or other extracurricular activities.

5. Figure out transportation arrangements.

The beginning of school is so much easier and less stressful with pre-planning.

6 Tips To Get Ready For School

Thursday, July 12th, 2012 by admin

Please, don’t throw stones at me when I say this—in many places school will be starting in two months. Here are a few back to school ideas to make the transition from summer to school easier:

  • Make appointment for a physical exam if your child is required to have one. Be sure to take your forms with you.
  • Are all their immunizations and vaccinations up to date? Keep the records where you can find them fast—in your files under health and the child’s name or in Securita Vault.
  • Post the family calendar in a common area so all activities for each family member can be tracked.
  • Clean out closets—get rid of clutter—that would be old school clothes that no longer fit or are worn out.
  • Are there any registration requirements for their school you need to complete?
  • Keep on reading for enjoyment, summer isn’t over yet.

In one more month I’ll have more suggestions on what to do one month before school starts.

“If I’ve told you once I’ve told you a thousand times”
–Just about every mother I have ever known

Does getting your family to clear clutter seem like this to you? May I suggest a different idea? Teach, train, follow through and assist family members in learning how to clear clutter.

To us it may seem so simple—yet it must not be or we wouldn’t have to tell them a “thousand times”.

What has been your most successful idea on getting your family to clear clutter?

Instant Stuffed Animals Storage Solution

Getting Rid of Clutter Product Review:

Here is another clever organizing tip to get rid of clutter which is very inexpensive:

Attach a Velcro strip to the wall to attach soft toys to. I am always being asked “how do I store stuffed animals”? This is a clever way to decorate the walls and get the toys out of the way. Several strips could be attached one above the other.

Velcro is a brand name but any hook and loop tape would work. Buy it at a hardware or fabric store.

HAPPY St. Patrick’s Day to you tomorrow. Be sure to wear the green to avoid being pinched. Does your country have this tradition?

Get Rid Of Clutter Product Review:

This is the coolest product—I was in my client’s home and we were chatting about organizing solutions for her cluttered closet. (Her words, not mine). She said she knew she needed to get rid of the clutter but didn’t know what to do with all the things that needed to be kept in the closet such as back packs her children brought home from school.

This is the solution she came up with, a back pack rack from Amazon. I declare if someone needs an organizing product all they have to do is search and low and behold there will be a solution to get rid of clutter. I didn’t even know this was ‘out there’, thank you Rebekah.

Flair For Clearing Clutter

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 by admin

“You don’t get harmony when everybody sings the same note”.

–Doug Floyd

I am sad to say one of my talents is not singing on tune. (Is that how I say I sound horrible when I try to sing?) I can hear it in my head but it doesn’t come out the same.

Harmony is such a beautiful thing in music but it takes many different notes to make it. Is that how it is with clearing clutter? I think it is—we try many different things and many different ways to find our style when clearing clutter.

Sometimes it means giving our family members a break if they don’t clear clutter “our way”. Or we try something and it works and then later we improve on it. How fun this clearing clutter journey is. What do you think?

Show ‘N Share Tuesday:

Are you inundated with toys?  Now I know many of you reading this are past that stage where you have to deal with toys but many more are still in that stage in their life. Clutter clearing when it comes to toys is very liberating.

Look at these before and after photos—isn’t it wonderful?  We were able to get all of the toys sorted (way to go (I’ll call her) Rebekah!!!) and some of the toys were taken away and put in storage for the youngest child when he grows up.

Toy storage clutter clearing tips:

  • Remove those the children don’t play with anymore—donate or recycle.
  • Store toys for younger siblings in well marked bins for later use.
  • Recycle any toys that can’t be repaired.
  • Recycle or donate toys that you can’t stand having around—those with too much noise or too many little parts—you (the adult) is in charge.
