Maxine Shows Us How To Do Clutter Clearing And Winner Announced

Monday’s Focus:

I was teaching a class to 30 + women and men who were all over 55 years old and I was telling them about an internet experience “a little old lady” I had in my community education classes shared with us. Then as an aside I said “Oh, I shouldn’t call her a little old lady” (even though she was). A woman in the front row said, “No you shouldn’t”. I felt a bit sheepish. But I like sheep so it was o.k.

Having said that this Maxine is an old lady and she cracks me up.

This week do some stuff around the house—do some clutter clearing– or sit around it, walk around it or lie around it. The choice is yours. Clutter clearing can only happen after you do some thinking about what it is you need to clear—this can be done while lying about, sitting or walking about.

As you know I am partnered with SMEAD office products. They send me a new product every month. This month it is an Income Tax Organizer.
If you would like this organizer leave a comment on this blog saying why you love tax time (or don’t love it). I will be drawing the lucky winner on Wednesday, February 29.

The organizer has 6 pockets, a printed checklist and notes area on the inside cover. It includes labels for tax subjects and blanks. The color is green/moss.
This looks like a nice organizing product to tame paper clutter.

When my daughter was in high school she talked about going to Norway to work for four months. She changed her mind when she found out how much of the time it is in darkness.

Sometimes I think our clutter is in darkness (drawers, closets, under the bed etc) and we don’t realize how it plays on our psyche. Where do you live—is your life in Norway or in the light?

Clearing Clutter Winner!

Today is the free giveaway. I guess only one person wanted the MAGLITE because there was only one comment. I did get a comment on YouTube who said they wanted it but they didn’t pop over here and leave a comment. So (drum roll please) Pantha you are the lucky winner. I will send it clear over the pond to England very soon. Congratulations!

I don’t know if it was the 10 inches of snow we got at our home on Sunday that made the clutter control bug bite or what; but for the last two days a couple of hours a day I have been Clearing clutter  in my fabric closet sorting and folding and donating fabric like crazy. It is done and it sure does feel wonderful to open the closet and see everything organized.

This is a case of thinking everything was pretty well organized but knowing I could make it better. Clearing Clutter makes me as happy as can be. I keep going to my closet and sliding the door open just to see how nice it looks.

Do you ever do this after you have done some serious or not so serious clutter control?

The weather people are saying Friday we will get another big storm (but they aren’t sharing how many inches of snow is expected) so who knows what clutter I’ll find to get rid of on Saturday.

Today is also a holiday. I don’t think it is a day to reduce clutter, but a good day to play and do whatever you want to do. But then again, it is Labor Day so maybe it is a good day to reduce clutter. What do you think?

Organize a DVD Collection or Stack of CD’s

We’ve received quite a bit of positive feedback on our CD/DVD Storage Binders as a way to Organize a DVD Collection or stack of CD’s over the past few years, much like the review from the Overstock customer above. When I first saw the storage binder, I wasn’t completely sold that it would make a substantial difference in “my” home. I have always been the type of person that didn’t mind having the original CD’s and DVD’s out on my bookshelves, as long as they were neatly arranged. I decided to give the binders a try to see if they really could reduce clutter in my house.

The storage binders hold up to 48 CD’s, DVD’s or Blu ray DVD’s and can be expanded to hold 60-72 discs with additional inserts. I quickly filled two binders with my DVD collection and discarded the original DVD packaging.

I did the same thing to my CD collection in another two binders. I used 4 black binders, even though they also come in brown and burgundy, to arrange all my discs, and set them nicely on the bookshelf.

One of our customer reviews remarked, “If you are looking for ways to store your CD’s and DVD’s in a decorative setting, this is the binder you are looking for.
The best thing about this binder is it looks like a book in my library; it is not too wide and it doesn’t extend beyond the size of other books”.-Amazon customer.
