You Control The Clutter On The Fridge

Monday, June 3rd, 2013 by admin

Monday Focus:

Remember the poem “Mary, Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow?” My question for this week is how does your refrigerator door “grow”?

Is your fridge cluttered with out of date invitations, pictures, things clipped from the newspaper or even with magnets you no longer like?

I know there are fridges that can’t hold magnets so yours is as clear as a bell but for those of us who can put things on ours I suggest you stand back; take a look and see if it has grown clutter.

When anything is on the fridge too long it can get covered up or we get so used to it that we don’t actually see what is there.

A cluttered fridge can make the entire room look cluttered. Right now I have 2 special magnets and two recent postcards on the front of mine. I’m o.k. with this, in a week I will be taking down the post cards and putting them with my post card collection.

How does your fridge look? Does it need some clutter control?

By the way—The United States leads the world in the use of refrigerator magnets. (that’s what they say)

Love Is In The Air With Valentine Kitchen Organizing Product

Friday, February 8th, 2013 by admin

I love valentines. I don’t know why unless it is because I like hearts or the color red or the feeling in the air. It is always so much fun to do special, fun little things for people on this day.

As children we would leave valentines on the steps of friends, then knock and run.  It was so much fun. (It looks like the word fun is my word of the day).

This product is an early valentines present from my daughter—and the bonus is she then made cookies for us using these fun, happy, and pretty cups.

The set comes with a 1 cup, ½ cup, 1/3 cup and a ¼ cup. She bought them at a cute little shop on Main Street called “All Tucked In”—it is a children’s book store with a variety of other things as well.

I have seen them in various catalogs and kitchen specialty stores.  I can’t tell you the price because they were a gift.  (I would guess about $10.00).

I cleared clutter when I put these away in the basket that keeps the other measuring cups by removing one set and taking them out of premium space.

Important Clutter Clearing Tip For Your Fridge

Clearing Clutter Show ‘N Share:

I finished cleaning out and organizing my fridge and then I remembered this would be a good thing to share. I have a really good tip:

When clearing clutter out of your fridge and putting food back in, put the items on shelves according to what you use most often. The veggies of course go in the crisper and the meat in the meat container but the food on the shelf’s can be organized by frequency. This saves time and frankly just makes a lot of sense.

Do you like clearing clutter out of your fridge? Do you wait until left over’s have mold on them so you can toss them guilt free? (I used to) I think that sounds funny but facts are facts whether I did it deliberately or not..

Look at this wonderful after photo—it makes me want to go and make some cookies or a cake because everything is so organized now and it is easy to find what I need.

It was so much fun clutter clearing in this drawer. All it took was:

  • Putting likes together
  • Containing everything (I am not sure about that rogue flower)
  • Removing things that didn’t belong

Clutter clearing is a cinch with a plan in mind. My plan was to make it easy to find things and utilizing the 3 tips above.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

AFTER
I love seeing before and after photos. How about you? These pictures say it all—as you can see some serious clutter control happened.

Things had been shoved into this cupboard, likes weren’t together and bowls and pans were kept that were never used.

It was a simple thing to donate items that were never used and others that were used but only because they were there, not because they were liked.

Do you have some clutter control that needs to be done and it is as simple as getting rid of some things you don’t like but you just hang on to?

Can I take a peek in your drawers?

These photos say it all but you know me I still have to add my two cents worth……

I love transforming junk drawers into resource drawers. I know I have shared this with you before but I have another good example of how to get rid of clutter, reclaim your space and be happy all at the same time.

Just looking at this before and after makes me want to say—ah-h-h-h. Now everything in the drawer belongs here. Containers keep things together and contained and they also help so it won’t revert to a junk drawer again.

Get rid of clutter fast and easy starting with one drawer at a time.

Indulge Yourself With Clutter Control On Fridge

Monday’s  Clutter Control Focus:

What is on the outside of your fridge? How many magnets do you have? How many ads? How many phone numbers? How many sticky notes? How much outdated information is hanging out on your fridge?

Does your fridge need clutter control?  I’m just asking, no need to stone me. Take a look—a good look and what do you actually see?

This is a photo of my fridge. All three magnets are from my daughters and have meaning to me. One is from the Issaquah fair in Washington, the other a special New Year’s tea this year that Cindy had for us and the other one is over 20 years old and is from Oregon.

Does this focus strike a chord in you and you are itching to do some clutter control? Or is your fridge as clean as a whistle? Or is it cluttered and you like it just the way it is?

Attractive Fridge Gives Way To Clutter Control

I am watching a most addictive BBC series “Lark Ford to Candlerise” every chance I get. It is the story of two different villages and the story has me mesmerized as well as the terrific and believable acting of every single character. Dorcas–one of the main characters is always saying “this is my ‘one’ weakness” (she has about 15 by now).

Wouldn’t it be nice if clutter control was our ‘one’ weakness? And what better place that could happen than over the fridge. This is another flat surface that seems to have magnets on it to attract all sorts of things.

Clutter control was fast and simple over this fridge—it was a matter of finding homes for everything and eliminating things that didn’t belong.

Do you have a secret for clutter control over your fridge? I have a plant on mine, a basket for paper and pens (since I don’t have drawers in my kitchen) and the kitchen phone. These are all necessities and they leave no room for anything else.

Sunshine Fresh When It Comes To Getting Rid Of Clutter

Thursday, January 12th, 2012 by admin

Getting rid of clutter may be as easy as choosing a different color. I was organizing with this delightful woman and in her small pantry she kept her garbage can. It took up valuable space and was in the way. I asked her if she could move it out and put it at the end of the counter.

It seemed like a perfect fit as the space was just right. (Just like the Three Bears story and Goldilocks). Anyway she liked the idea and the next week when I walked in her kitchen she pointed out the new place for her garbage can and said what a difference it had made to move it and how much they liked it there.

What surprised me was the color choice.  Instead of the typical white which she had before and I see in most homes it was black and it blended right in instead of being noticed.

I had never thought of color as a way of getting rid of clutter —have you?
