Too Much of A Good Thing is Wonderful

I hear people complain about clutter and having too much stuff. When my mother went to college she had only one dress (in the days women only wore dresses to school), she had to wash it out by hand and iron it every few days. When I organize closets in homes I have never found a scarcity for clothes.
A friend was telling me a similar story that kids used to only have two pairs of pants as though it was a good thing. I personally think we need to live in our generation and two pairs of pants or one dress is not enough.
Times have changed and now that we have more clothes and more stuff we need to learn how to care for what we have. The key to removing clutter and being organized is to find a system to eliminate clutter and create organized space. We can do this in our homes and closets by assessing what we have. In our clothes closets remove everything and only put back what we honestly wear and like. It may be helpful to work with a friend or professional organizer to give an objective opinion and to encourage us to get rid of the clutter in our closets that is emotionally and physically draining.
You know the saying: “Too Much of A Good Thing Is Wonderful”. Most of us are blessed to have too much, so let’s get rid of the clutter and take care of what we have.

It has only been the last little while that I have admitted to myself that I have way too much in so many areas. It’s so hard to find a place for everything and just putting it somewhere does not work. As Shakespear has said “To thine own self be true” In other words, really be honest with yourself and know you really want more organized space so keep what you use and give to others so they can benefit and use the stuff. It doesn’t do anyone any good for stuff just to sit there!!!!!
