When is a Bookcase Not A Bookcase?
March 29th, 2008
Bookcases are wonderful pieces of furniture that can be used for more than books. This bookcase is used for:
•Nick knacks
•To hold homemade quilts
•Photo Albums
•Books
Be creative, think outside the box and load up your bookcase with anything you want. A few simple ‘rules’:
•Make it attractive
•Don’t stuff or clutter the shelves
•Line books up by height within categories
What do you use your bookcases for besides books? What is your favorite thing you put on your bookshelves?

I so love your blogs and get some great ideas on how to reign in the chaos in our lives. I LOVE BOOKCASES. I use them for everything. I buy the particleboard kind that you build, then I paint with really durable/scrubable paint. I trim (thinify) them down to use as closet organizers in the ends of all our closets!! This works great when you have kids sharing a room. We used them as their dressers. By doing this they had more floor space to play on. I also bought some stackable kinds and made a closet just inside the house by the garage into a mud area. The kids have one for their shoes and back packs and I use another with trays for thier hats, gloves and scarves. I have a rod between them for their coats. I even made a nice one for our entry way closet for my extra tablecloths and party games. Anyways, thanks for promoting bookcases because they are so versible and I just LOVE them!!
