I was asked to submit a course proposal to teach classes for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. I was talking to the director and she suggested I start teaching Winter semester because: “that is such a good time to organize and clear clutter”.

I suggested to her as a professional organizer I think anytime is the best time to clear clutter.

Summertime is a good time because it can be a less demanding time and we’re more laid back. If you are shopping summer sidewalk sales it is a good time to make space for new things. Also it is a good time for a garage sale.

Fall is a great time to clear clutter because it is a time of new beginnings—school is starting, seasonal clothes will be rotated in your closet, the new concert season is starting and so forth.

Winter is a good time because with so many holidays it is time to clear clutter to make way for new things and to accommodate guests.

How about Spring? Some think this is the best because they have had cabin fever and it is time to organize and clear clutter that has crept every so quietly into our living space.

Clearing clutter is a constant process, it really isn’t best just one time of year. Now is the best time to clear clutter.
